Talk:WhatHappened
More details (to show the world that Xiph is still alive)
Maybe a more detailed explanation of the 'hosting implosion' would help... It seems that some news [Ars Technica] has published truthful articles which have implied that xiph.org is currently not active anymore.
Links to vorbis.com might also reestablish the meme that work on Vorbis is still lead by Xiph.org and not by some other entity like Rarewares (although it is great that Rarewares continue to distribute libvorbis 1.1 they do not have links which lead back to vorbis.com nor xiph.org). Its also worthwhile to note that the Vorbis FAQ is a bit old.
And updates to the key pages at xiph.org, particularly to the vorbis page which still states Vorbis 1.0 as the newest version, definitely would help. --Lemi4 07:54, 11 Jan 2005 (PST)
4:4:4 and 10 bit
I would like to ask a question. Sorry to do it here but I'm not very skillfull on IRC's and mailing lists. Will Theora support 4:4:4 colorspace and 10 bit per color channel? I'm asking this cause I see it as an amazing alternative to closed codecs for High Definition stuff. Also, if Theora supports these too basic Professional features, seeing that even Elphel guys are implementing it on FPGA, it could really become a wide adopted industry standard codec. Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.
