Daala and Cygwin

This is a guide on how to build Daala on Windows with Cygwin. Here's a different guide about this, on which this one is based: Compiling Daala on Cygwin x64

Installing Cygwin

Download and run https://cygwin.com/setup-x86_64.exe.

Install apt-cyg

wget rawgit.com/XadillaX/apt-cyg/master/apt-cyg

install apt-cyg /bin

Install Packages

Install packages necessary to build Daala:

apt-cyg install gcc-core make pkg-config autoconf automake libtool libogg-devel libpng-devel libjpeg-devel check git

Compile Daala

git clone https://git.xiph.org/daala.git

cd daala

./autogen.sh

./configure --disable-player

make -j22

make tools


If the compile fails, try commenting out these lines in configure.ac: CFLAGS="-std=c89 -pedantic -Wall -Wextra -Wno-parentheses -Wno-long-long -Wno-overlength-strings $CFLAGS"

CC_CHECK_CFLAGS_APPEND([-U__STRICT_ANSI__])

by putting a # on front of the lines in configure.ac file


Note: make tools will fail if sdl is missing.
