By the way, I have no idea if the codecs I pointed you to were useful, since you didn't reply to that point. OggUVS still needs some stuff like an actual implementation in code, which you can help create if you like. :Sorry, yes, OggUVS looks promising for this application, however I'm a rather amateur coder. I will look at CMML and Skeleton as possible metadata formats. However, if OggUVS mandates a 3-channel colorspace, it's not ideal, as the images being worked with are 10-bit greyscale (640*480*1*10). --Haifen 19:18, 9 October 2007 (PDT)

I'm interested in the Ogg wrapper for wrapping uncompressed video (10-bit greyscale, <90FPS, one frame per packet), and am looking for either a codec implementation that could be used or pointers on not what to do with the assumption that the best way to do things would be to implement my own codec. At some point it would be good to store some frame-specific metadata (not necessarily generic video data) for each frame within each packet. At some point it might be good to have some related but not necessarily meta-type data packaged quasi-asynchronously in other packets, but not only will this make the codec more complicated, it'd also decrease the likelyhood that it'd be useful beyond the target application it's being developed for.
----
I was told to make a page on the Xiph.org Wiki with implementation ideas for issues I had discussed on #theora on Freenode. Here is the chatlog:

12:12 < robink> I know the ogg wrapper mailinglist would probably not be the
most apropos place to make noise about this, but can you guys
suggest an appropriate place to ask about this little problem?
12:19 < maikmerten> I think here isn't actually a bad place
12:20 < maikmerten> you might also consider #xiph, also it's mostly a subset of
people here attending here anyway
12:21 < maikmerten> if you want to document something you might also want to
create a personal page over at the xiph wiki so something
exists to point people to

I will get on the relevant mailinglists and post after a brief lurk. Barring a change in your stance I will remove the question from the wiki within 72 hours. --Haifen 15:54, 9 October 2007 (PDT)
